Instructions

    • 1

Identify an old scratched or unwanted record or CD that you would like to turn into a clock.

    • 2

Decide whether you want to use the record or CD by itself as the face of the clock or whether you want to decorate the album with paint, decals or other decorations. If you chose to decorate the record, do so before installing the clock movement.

    • 3

Purchase your clock movement. See the link in the resource section of this article for recommendations on where to purchase the clock movement.

    • 4

Insert the clock movement through the center hole of the record or CD. You may need to enlarge the record hole a bit. To do so, you can use a drill and drill bit or you can use a pen, pencil or dowel to enlarge the hole until it is the size to fit the clock movement.

    • 5

Follow the manufacturers instructions to install the clock movement. Usually this requires placing a washer against the record, then sliding on the two hands so that they are both pointing as 12:00 and then installing a locking cap to hold the hands in place.

    • 6

Insert a battery into the clock mechanism and set the clock.
