Everyone loves a carefree picnic, the irony is that for your picnic to be fun and carefree you need to be careful about certain things. For instance, you must remember to carry a “good” picnic table and umbrella. So, how does one decide what constitutes a “good”? Well, here are some tips to help you make the right choice-

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first most important attribute of a picnic table is that it should be easy to transport and carry. At the same time it should be sturdy enough to cope up with elements. Collapsible plastic tables are therefore considered ideal for picnics.

  2. Step 2

The size of the table would depend on the number of people you want to accommodate on the table. If you have large family or social circle, you may invest in a huge table or 2 or 3 small picnic tables.

  3. Step 3

If however, you intend to place the picnic table in your backyard of lawn, then you may decide to invest in a heavy wooden or metal table, but do remember that they require greater maintenance than a plastic table.

  4. Step 4

Picnic tables come with and without attached seating. Attached seating is ideal for fixed picnic tables; however, the distance between the table and the chair may not be comfortable for everyone. Movable benches and seats are a good idea if you intend to buy a portable picnic table.

  5. Step 5

You must also make sure that the picnic table comes with a pre-drilled hole for the umbrella.

  6. Step 6

As far as the attributes of a good umbrella go, the first most important thing to ensure is that the umbrella should be large enough to provide shade to the entire table.

  7. Step 7

To ensure that the umbrella doesn’t fall prey to powerful gusts of wind, make sure that it has in-built air vents.

  8. Step 8

If you intend to carry your umbrella to the beach, look for an umbrella with a pointed end so that it can easily penetrate into sand.

  9. Step 9

While aluminum or hard wood poles have long life spans and are ideal for fixed picnic tables, it would be a god idea to invest in an umbrella with a PVC pole for portable picnic tables.

  10. Step 10

Finally, make sure that the design of the umbrella goes well with the look of the table.
