If you want to make gift bags to match your wrapping paper follow these directions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Desired wrapping paper
  • double sided tape
  • ribbon
  • scissors
  • books, boxes such as cereal boxes of different sizes.
  1. Step 1

The first thing you need to do is find a book or box that is the size you want to make. Then choose your wrapping paper. You want to make sure the paper is durable. Usually recycled wrapping paper is a heavier grade of paper and better for this type of project.

  2. Step 2

You will begin by wrapping your box as if it was a gift, but only leaving excess at one end instead of both. Use the double sided tape so that you wont have any tape showing. Tape the entire back seam to ensure there wont be any tearing.

  3. Step 3

Fold the end as if you were wrapping a gift, folding in the shorter sides, then the longer ones, making sure you tape everything very well.

  4. Step 4

Before you remove the new bag from the box make sure each corner is creased very well. Remove the bag and stand it up. Cut lengths of ribbon for the handles. Make sure they are the same length. Tape the handles in using the double sided tape. Put one piece under each end and another on top. Cut another length of ribbon to be placed horizontally across both ends of the handle, and tape in place to give a little more security to the handles.

  5. Step 5

Now you can use your bag for whatever you like.

Tips & Warnings
  • To make your bag sturdier cut a piece of cardboard to fit in the bottom of your bag.
  • Satin ribbon works better, and looks better as well.
  • Make a variety of sizes at one time so that you have them on hand.
  • If you plan on using your bag for an unusually heavy gift you would probably want to use a manufactured gift bag as their materials are thicker than wrapping paper.
