Step 1
Find a palm sized rock. Your rock should be a smooth, somewhat flat or a rounded surface. Do not use a rock with jagged or sharp edges.
-
Step 2
Wash any dirt off of your rock.
-
Step 3
Save old cancelled stamps from envelopes. Cut the stamps off of the envelope with the paper from the envelope attached.
-
Step 4
Soak the stamps in water for a few minutes to loosen the glue and remove the paper.
-
Step 5
Place the stamps on wax paper to dry. Only use wax paper because the stamps will not stick to it.
-
Step 6
Glue the stamps one by one onto the rock. Be sure to overlap the stamps to cover any part of the rock and to make the design more interesting. Be sure to cover all sides and top and bottom. You can use plain white glue to glue your stamps on to the rock, you do not need any special glue or adhesive.
-
Step 7
Allow the glue to completely dry.
-
Step 8
Paint a coat of white glue all over the stamps or you can use a decoupage medium such as Mod Podge. Allow to dry and paint a second coat. Allow the second coat to dry thoroughly.
-
Step 9
Glue felt to the bottom of your paperweight to reduce scratching of other surfaces.
