Step 1
Take the seeds out of your pumpkin. Use a large spoon or your hand to pull the seeds out.
-
Step 2
Place the pumpkin seeds in a colander. Wash the excess pumpkin off of your pumpkin seeds. Toss the pumpkin seeds as you are running them under cold water.
-
Step 3
Place a few layers of paper towels or a clean dish cloth or two on a flat surface. Spread your pumpkin seeds out to allow them to dry. Pat them with a paper towel or a clean dish towel.
-
Step 4
In a large frying pan melt about 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine. Add pumpkin seeds and salt to taste.
-
Step 5
Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes while stirring constantly.
-
Step 6
Take the frying pan off of the stove and place the seeds on a large cookie sheet. You should have one even layer.
-
Step 7
Place the pumpkin seeds in a 300° oven for about 25 minutes.
-
Step 8
Remove the pumpkin seeds from the oven and immediately lay them back on paper towels or a dish cloth to cool.
-
Step 9
After they have cooled, store in a lidded container.
