How to Leave Yahoo Groups

Are too many individual emails or email digests from all your groups clogging your email box? Have you had lost interest in certain Yahoo Groups? Leave those groups behind with a few easy steps so you can focus on the things you love.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Internet connection
Yahoo login and password

Step 1

Go to Yahoo! Groups either through the main yahoo page (click on Groups in the left column) or through the direct link, http://groups.yahoo.com/ .
Step 2

Sign in to Yahoo with your Login Id and Password.
Step 3

Your groups will appear on the left under "My Groups". Click on the one you want to delete and it will open that group.
Step 4

At the top, above the colored bar, click on the link for "Edit Membership" (highlighted in blue).
Step 5

Scoll to the bottom of the page. Click on "Leave Group". It will take you to the Leave Group page to make sure you want to leave. Click there again and you're done.
Step 6

Click on "Back to Yahoo! Groups Home Page" to delete more.

Tips & Warnings

Instead of deleting, you might want to consider "Special notices" or "Web Only" to keep a minimal connection with the group. These options are under step 2 on the Edit Membership page.
Once you leave a group, you must rejoin should you ever want to receive their informaion.

on 9/16/2009 Super ideas! I've joined numerous Yahoo groups over the years and they're always such a hassle to leave. Thanks for breaking down the steps for me.

Sometimes, I try to quit the group and click the unsubscribe button and then they send back an email that has to be returned and then I can be unsubscribed. Often, those return emails don't get sent, so I have to start the process all over again. So complicated! LOL!
