How to Make Mashed Cinnamon Sweet Potatoes

Mashed cinnamon sweet potatoes are great year round. But I enjoy them best for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cinnamon compliments the sweet potatoes in such a warm way. Cinnamon sweet potatoes are a good side dish for chicken, duck and turkey.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 sweet
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  1. Step 1

    peel the sweet potatoes and give them a good rinse.

  2. Step 2

    Dice the sweet potatoes in 1 inch dice. Make sure they are equal sizes, this way they all require the same amount of cooking time when you boil them.

  3. Step 3

    Add the diced sweet potatoes to a sauce pan and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over hi heat. Boil the sweet potatoes until they are tender to a fork. It should take 15 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Drain the water from the sweet potatoes and return them to the pan. Mash the sweet potatoes with a potato masher until they are smooth.

  5. Step 5

    Stir in the butter, milk, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and season to taste with salt and pepper. They are ready to be served.
