Pie crusts are so versatile in baking- they can be used for savory or sweet, breakfast or dinner, fancy or casual. And there is nothing finer than being able to whip out a pie in a matter of minutes because you have pie crusts ready on hand! Follow these steps to store your pie crusts conveniently in your freezer. They freeze flat to save space and are ready to use when you are.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Piece of Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Favorite Pie Crust Recipe
  • Freezer Storage Bags
  • Wax Paper
  1. Step 1

    Create Your Cardboard Template

Create your template by cutting a circle out of the cardboard that will be just slightly larger (by a 1/4 inch or so) than your pie crusts will be. This template will serve as your 'plate' for the crusts as they are stored in the freezer and will prevent them from curling or bending before they are frozen.

  2. Step 2

    Make Your Favorite Pie Crust!

Put together all of your ingredients using your favorite recipe for pie crusts. Once you've got the dough, cut out your pie circles, making sure that your template remains a 1/4 inch or so larger all around the edges.

  3. Step 3

    Layer Your Crusts and Freeze!

Take a large piece of wax paper and place it over the cardboard. On top of the wax paper place your first pie crust and then alternate each pie crust with wax paper to prevent sticking. Once you've layered your desired number of crusts place them with cardboard into a large freezer bag and store them in your freezer.

Tips & Warnings
  • For convenience, it might be wise to only store two pie crusts per bag, that way you can just pull out the bag to defrost and be ready to go!
  • Make sure everything is clean as you are prepping, cardboard included.
