House training a puppy can be hard and can run the calmest persons patience go like smoke in the wind. With this technique may make the transition from a pup going in the house to a perfectly house trained dog.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • patience
  • large dog kennel
  • time, lots of time.
  1. Step 1

One thing that is important to know, is however old the puppy is in months is about how long the intervels should be to be taken out.

    EX: 1 month = 1 hour, 2 months = 2 hours...etc.

  2. Step 2

Pick the times to feed the puppy 2 to 3 times a day. Give him 15 - 20 minutes to eat and drink. After that time is up, take the food from him. If you let him "graze" all day, it will be harder to determine when he needs to go.

  3. Step 3

After you have taken the food, give the puppy 15 to 20 more minutes, then take him out side. Pick a phrase or word that you will use EVERY time you take him out.

  4. Step 4

Put him in the grass and ignore him, so he won't want to play. Do not talk to him, or play with him, after all its "pottytime". This will help him learn the difference between going outside to play and going outside to do his business. When he does go, praise him, pat his head, tell him hes a good boy, and give him a treat.

  5. Step 5

The hard part comes when he goes in the house. If he pees in the house resist your urge to decipline by spanking him or yelling. It will just cause him to hide the next time. Instead scoop him up and rush him outside, and if a single drop hits the ground. Praise him for a job well done. If he poops, put him in his kennel, and clean it. DO NOT let him see you clean it up. It will make him think that its whats he is supposed to do.

  6. Step 6

Last tip. If you can not watch for his signs that he has to go.
EX: sniffing in a circle, squatting...etc
Put him in the kennel, chances are, unless he can not hold it any more he wont go in the kennel, because he doesn't want to lie in his own mess.

  7. Step 7

Puppies can be fun, but make sure you have the time to put into proper care and training.
