Most flea treatments kill fleas once they bite a dog, but they do nothing to repel them. This is why fleas can hop onto your puppy, lay their eggs, feed, and then die. Soon after, the eggs hatch and the process starts again.

Garlic though is a natural flea repellent that will keep your dog from itching an scratching all day long. Make these yummy dog treats to use in conjunction with a monthly flea treatment. Your puppy will thank you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stale bagel.
  • Garlic powder.
  • Non-stick cooking spray.
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Slice a plain or whole wheat bagel into ultra thin slices. Bagels will slice better and still taste the same if they are a day old or stale, so don't worry about having ultra fresh ones.

  3. Step 3

Put bagel slices on a cookie sheet and coat pieces with cooking spray and a liberal amount of garlic powder. Flip and repeat on other side.

  4. Step 4

Pop tray of dog treats in the oven and bake 2 minutes on each side or until crispy.

  5. Step 5

Feed your dog these lower calorie dog treats instead of biscuits during the day. If you use treats during training, simply break them into smaller pieces after they cool.

Tips & Warnings
  • These flea repelling dog treats should be used in conjunction with instead of in place of a monthly flea treatment.
  • Do not use garlic or everything bagels or pre-made bagel chips in this recipe as they contain high levels of salt which is dangerous to dogs.
