How to Make Beach-Themed Centerpieces
Create unusual centerpieces that will allow you to show off the shells you collected at the beach. Use a variety of tall, clear glass vases to make candle stands for the centerpiece – the vases don’t have to match. In fact, using a variety of shapes and sizes will add interest to the centerpiece. The vases do need to have a flat rim on top, however, as they will be displayed upside down.
Things You'll Need
- Tall clear glass containers
- Shells in various sizes
- Sand
- Candles
- Ribbon
- Self-sealing cellophane wrap
Instructions

1
Fill the vases completely with a combination of sand and shells, just sand, or just shells. Try different combinations to determine which you like best. Fill them all the way to the top.
-
2
Place a sheet of self-sticking cellophane such as Glad Press’n’Seal on over the opening on the vase. Make sure that it is completely pressed around the top of the vase and cut off the excess. When you turn your vase upside down, nothing will fall out, nothing will shift, and your shells will stay in place.

Place the sealed vases upside down and add the candle on top. These vases look attractive when displayed on a mirror or platter. Or cut down a box to 1 inch tall and fill it with sand. Place vases in the sand with shells scattered around them.
