Step 1
The first thing to do is set up a budget for your wedding day. This should include everything; your dress, tuxedos, flowers, gifts, even the honeymoon. The budget is important. Decide what items you want to spend more or less on. You must prioritize the spending, this way you will not overspend on one item, and not have enough for another.
-
Step 2
When shopping for a dress you should shop around. Do not be afraid to buy second hand. The dress will be much cheaper, and no one will know that it was used before. Check dry cleaners. Sometimes they will have dresses left behind and will sell them at a ridiculously low price. You will also save on the cleaning.
-
Step 3
Make thing on your own. Check discount stores, or online auction sites for things that will be easy to put together. You can make gifts and more on your own. You can also make a party out of it. Get all of your friends together serve finger foods, or other snacks. Have everyone work on projects. Use this time to connect and discuss your wedding plan. Your friends will enjoy this time, and love to help you.
-
Step 4
Find someone online or in your area that is just getting started. A lot of new business will give great discounts for there services. They want to get there names out there. This works great for the catering, floral, wedding cakes or even wedding planning. Offer to list a thank you to them on your program, or somewhere else that suites you. They will most likely give you even more of a discount for advertising for them This saves there advertising budget, and saves you money.
-
Step 5
Avoid getting a photographer, they are ridiculously expensive. The only thing that may use a photographer would be the group photos at the ceremony. Invest in disposable cameras. You can get these that have wedding colors, so they do not clash with your settings. Place three or four on each table and ask everyone to take pictures of what they see. Have them leave the cameras on the table at the end of the night.
-
Step 6
Be sure you are getting the best deal on your honeymoon. Plan a few months ahead, to get the best offers. You should also find a location that will offer you the best price guarantee. Many places will do this now. You will book your honeymoon, and if a better price is offered for the same package, they will refund the difference.
It is your day; remember you still have to pay bills after this day. Use these tips, and be creative on coming up with your own ideas. You will have a great day, just plan well, and save every dollar, you can.
