Want a change from soda pop and iced tea? Make homemade ginger ale for a refreshing drink that quenches thirst and provides some tasty ingredients that are good for you.

This recipe makes 1 gallon of homemade ginger ale that tastes better than the stuff from a can.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 2 T lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cloudy apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 gallon water
  1. Step 1

Gather the ingredients listed in the Things You'll Need section.

  2. Step 2

Take a pitcher or cleaned gallon jug (milk or juice). A gallon jug works great if you plan to take the ginger ale on a picnic or are traveling with it anywhere else.

  3. Step 3

Pour the ginger, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar into the pitcher or jug. Mix it around thoroughly, stirring or shaking it so the ginger dissolves.

If using a jug, a small funnel helps add the ingredients.

  4. Step 4

Add half the water to this mixture. Stir. Add the sugar and stir. Add the remaining water and stir for several minutes until the sugar is dissolved.

  5. Step 5

Refrigerate or pour directly over ice and enjoy your homemade ginger ale.

  6. Step 6

Store in a covered pitcher or bottle in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Be sure to shake or stir this homemade ginger ale each time before serving.
