Creating a restore point is essential to using your computer. If you download a virus and can't remove it, a restore point can bring you back to before you got it. It's much like a time machine!

Also, if you are installing a program and not sure of how it works, if it does what you want it to do, or aren't entirely sure of it's origins, it's good to have a back up plan in case it all goes down hill fast.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Firstly, we need to get to the restore options. Let's go to Start, then All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and finally System Restore.

  2. Step 2

You will get three options: restore my computer, create a restore point and undo my last restoration. Click the circle next to Create a restore point and then click Next.

  3. Step 3

You now get a chance to name this restore point. If you are about to download something, I usually use Before Downloading enter program name here, just to keep things organized.
