When you are cleaning out your computer, and accidentally delete a file you need, that confirmation dialog box that comes up after you click delete can be a real life saver! What's that you say? You don't have it turned on? And you don't know how to do it!? Rest easy, friend, I have the answer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Your recycling bin is probably located some where on your desktop. Let's maneuver our mouse to it, and right click one time. A list of options will drop down, and from that let's choose “properties”.

  2. Step 2

Under properties we will go to the “Global” tab, which it usually the default tab that comes up

  3. Step 3

Go down to the option that says “Do not remove files from the recycling, remove files immediately when deleted” and make sure that option is not checked. I repeat, not checked!

  4. Step 4

Under that there will be a box that you can check that says “Display delete confirmation dialog”. Check that box and you will get the warning that you are about to delete something, and you will have to click yes to continue deleting the file.

  5. Step 5

Finally, click apply to apply the changes you have made, and then ok.
