Each Halloween many families labor intensively carving pumpkins, removing the fleshy pulp, and cleaning the seeds in hopes of roasting the pumpkin seeds for a crisp and salty snack. Many will be disappointed in the outcome of the roasted pumpkin seeds because the salt will not stick. These pumpkin seeds will be nothing but a bland and tasteless snack. If you want to avoid this problem this Halloween, follow the steps below.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pumpkin seeds
  • salt
  • water
  1. Step 1

Remove the pumpkin seeds from the pumpkin.

  2. Step 2

Remove the pulp from the pumpkin seeds. Rinse the pumpkin seeds in a collander.

  3. Step 3

Place the pumpkin seeds in a shallow baking pan. A cookie sheet will work great.

  4. Step 4

Make a salt water solution consisting of 1 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of water. Cover the pumpkin seeds halfway with the saltwater.

  5. Step 5

Place pumpkin seeds in a 200 degree oven and bake until all the water has evaporated and the pumpkin seeds are crisp.

Tips & Warnings
  • This works best if the pumpkin seeds are carefully arranged in a single layer. This allows the salt to distribute more evenly over the pumpkin seeds.
