One of my favorite things for breakfast is French Toast. Below is my recipe on how to make the best french toast with Texas toast, cinnimon and almond extract. The addition of these items to the normal french toast recipe makes this recipe unique and quite tasty. Also, the adding of the cinnimon to the powdered sugar when we dust the french toast before serving gives the cinnimon flavor an extra kick.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Ingredients For French Toast:

    6 slices of Texas Toast
    2 eggs
    2/3 cup half and half
    1 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1 teaspoon almond extract
    salt to taste
    1/4 cup of powdered sugar
    Butter
    Maple Syrup

  2. Step 2

In a medium bowl whisk together eggs, half and half, salt, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg and almond extract to a frothy foam.

  3. Step 3

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or skillet over medium-high flame.

  4. Step 4

Dunk each slice of Texas Toast into the egg mixture and soak both sides until the bread soaks up some of the egg mixture. Place in skillet, and cook on both sides until golden.

  5. Step 5

Combine the powdered sugar with remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon and then sift over the french toast. Serve with butter and maple syrup.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can substitute vanilla extract for the almond extract if you wish but I think the almond extract gives this recipe a wonderfully unique and tasty flavor.
