With spatters and spills, your microwave can easily become dirty and stinky very quickly. But it is easy to keep clean without harsh chemicals or cleaning products.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • vinegar
  • water
  • a rag
  • a bowl
  1. Step 1

Fill a bowl with 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water.

  2. Step 2

Immerse your rag into the water, ring a little out, and place the rag into your microwave. Try to position the rag over any spills or stains on the bottom of the microwave.

  3. Step 3

"Cook" the rag on the regular setting for 3-5 minutes. This will loosen any dried on mess that is in the microwave.

  4. Step 4

Open the microwave and let the rag cool enough to be able to handle it, and wipe down the inside of the microwave. Rinse rag if needed, and dip it in the solution again and wipe the inside of the microwave clean.

  5. Step 5

Dip a paper towel in the bowl of solution, and wipe down the outside of the door and handle of the microwave.

  6. Step 6

For regular every day cleaning, you can microwave a wet rag and wipe it down easily, with no smell from the vinegar. The more you clean it, the easier it is to maintain.

Tips & Warnings
  • cover the food in your microwave with a paper plate, or one of the plastic devices made for this purpose to cut down on the mess build up.
  • the rag will be very hot. use gloves if necessary
