Things You'll Need:
- Sticky notes
- Gift or prize
- Pen or pencil
-
Step 1
Hide the gift or prize.
This is the end of the treasure hunt. Make sure it isn't obvious, and the prize doesn't stick out. Write congratulations or something similar on a sticky note and stick it on the gift. -
Step 2
Write a description of the place you hid the gift on the next sticky note. For a quick treasure hunt, just say where it is. For example, "behind the TV". For someone who likes puzzles you can give a less obvious clue like, "Where do you watch the news?", or "Anagram of Victor Thomas' monogram".
-
Step 3
Hide the sticky note with the clue in another hiding place.
-
Step 4
Write a clue to the previous sticky note's location on the next sticky note, then hide it someplace good.
-
Step 5
Keep hiding a chain of sticky notes with clues to the previous note's location until you have a long enough treasure hunt, or the recipient walks in the door.
-
Step 6
Present the last treasure hunt clue you wrote to the person the treasure hunt is for, either in a card or gift wrapped. Now you can follow them around and cheer them on. If they get stuck, give clues or say warmer, cooler.

on 8/31/2009 This sound like fun for the little ones. As they get older you can take them geocaching or create treasure hunts that use a GPS receiver, compass and maps!
