Old CDs and CD-Rs are things that almost everyone has laying around. But what do you do with them?

One creative idea is to use them as the base for a candle holder. The basic candle holder can then be dressed up to serve many different occasions!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An old CD or CD-R
  • Glass votive candle holder
  • Heavy-duty glue
  • Whatever embellishments you see fit!
  1. Step 1

Lay the CD or CD-R so that the shiny side is facing up.

  2. Step 2

Apply glue to the bottom of the glass votive holder. (These candle holders can usually be found at dollar stores and most other places that sell candles, and very basic ones can be obtained very cheaply.)

  3. Step 3

Center the glass votive holder on the CD and press it into place. Allow it to dry completely. Once the glue dries, your basic recycled CD candle holder is done.

If you wish, you can dress it up in many ways to fit any occasion.

  4. Step 4

Halloween: Glue a row of googley eyes around the outside edge of the CD to make a spooky look to use as centerpieces at a Halloween party.

  5. Step 5

Weddings: Tie thin ribbon in your wedding colors around the glass votive holder for an instant reception decoration.

  6. Step 6

Any occasion: Add ribbon, stickers, or other embellishments in any color or pattern appropriate to your theme!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure no to put anything flammable too close to the candle or over the mouth of the votive holder!
