Things You'll Need:
- A computer (Mac or PC)
- Photoshop CS3 or CS4
-
Step 1
First thing you are going to want to do is launch photoshop. After the application has been opened go to FILE in your top tool bar and go down to OPEN. This will bring up a drop down menu box where you can now select your desired file(s) and then select open.
-
Step 2
Next, as this part is almost always subjective, determine what it is you want to change about the photo. If you're like the rest of us in the new millennium, you're using a on-the-go digital camera that only allows for you to control how much light you allow into your camera lens. And these cameras more than always work on an auto-adjust frequency to the environment you are in.
Given so, you'll either be color correcting red-eye issues, heavy magenta or cyan levels in your photos.
So what you need to do is go into your main menu again and go to IMAGE>MODE and change your color profile from RGB to CMYK. Changing to CMYK allows you to see more detail and tone change when making corrections. -
Step 3
After you have changed the color format, now let's go back into our main menu at top, go to IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>COLOR BALANCE. Here you can adjust the CMYK levels in your photo across three channels; SHADOWS, MIDTONES and HIGHLIGHTS. This is important because you want an even adjustment across the entire photo instead mild or drastic changes made to various color channels in your file.
-
Step 4
To apply a darker tone or higher black density levels in your photo you can do so by going into IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>LEVELS where you can slide the level adjuster to get your desired look.
Now save your file and YOU"RE DONE!!!
