One of the key aspects of room painting is to get the actual room ready. Walls, floors, items in the room and supplies should be prepared before you consider painting. There are several considerations to keep in mind when you get a room ready for painting. The process to get a room ready for painting is rather simple.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Collect old newspapers. Use the old newspapers on the flooring to protect it. This is a great way to recycle papers while painting rooms.

  2. Step 2

Take painting tape and line the base boards and edges of doorways. If you do not want to paint the ceiling, line the ceiling with tape. Get as close to the edge of the wall as possible.

  3. Step 3

If taping the ceiling edges are too hard, purchase a ceiling and trim paint edger. You want the edges protected while painting.

  4. Step 4

Place your drop cloths along the floor next to the taped base boards.
Use old newspapers to set paint cans, roller trays, and brushes on when they are not in use. Make sure to use at least three sheets of old newspaper to ensure that paint does not leak through to the floor or carpet.

  5. Step 5

If you have dark colored walls to paint over, apply prime paint first. This will keep the old paint from leeching through to the new paint.

on 9/1/2009 I was kind of tall at 14 or 15 and my little sister and I used to paint half of our parents home using similar methods(except the taping, we weren't that cool yet). Those were the days. We had energy and I loved it. Thanks for this. 5* and a rec. Jswana
