This article outlines the proper way to shoot a basketball like the pros.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Basketball Hoop
  • Basketball
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

Remember BEEF (Balance, Elbow in, Eye on rim, Follow through) and watch as your skill increase. first is B, Bend your knees and have your balance before you do anything else. Have the ball in front of you and your weight evenly distributed.

  2. Step 2

    E) Elbow in. Keep your elbow in toward your rib cage. (If your right handed, this will be your right elbow, left handers will have their left elbow in). You will keep your elbow in the whole time, try not to break the plane of your rib cage through-out your shot.

  3. Step 3

E)Eye on rim. Some prefer to keep their eye on the back of the rim, others (myself included) prefer to focus on the front of the rim. If you look at the front, be prepared to shoot with just a bit more power than if you focus at the back of the rim.

  4. Step 4

    F) Follow Through. At the end of your shot, your shooting arm should be fully extended and your wrist should be bent toward the ground along with your hand and fingers. Snapping your wrist while you shoot puts extra spin and accuracy on your shot, also allowing you to have a good follow through. Point your arm and wrist toward your target the whole way through.
