Wigs have diffinatly come a long way in regards to looking natural around the hairline. The wigs I'm talking about are called lace wigs where the hairline is made of lace and when applied with some adhesive it lays flat on the skin. I'm going to give you some tips on how to remove your wig and remove the glue from your lace wig.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lace wig remover
  • Q-Tips
  • Alcohol
  • Cotton Balls
  • nylon stocking
  • Paper Towels
  1. Step 1

First you want to gather all you supplies needed for removing your lace wig and cleaning off the adhesive from your wig. Take a Q-tip and dip it in you adhesive remover and dab across from ear to ear on the lace making sure to soak through. After a few minutes lift the lace up starting at the ear and gently pull off to you reach the other ear. This step was for lace front wigs, now if your wearing a full lace wig then your just going to dab your Q-tip around the perimeter of your head and after a few minutes gently lift up the lace and gently pull until the wig is off.

  2. Step 2

Now that your lace wig is off, set it down and take your Q-tip and dab it in your adhesive remover and rub it on the area around your head were you may still have some lace adhesive stuck around the perimeter of your head. Make sure you put enough remover around your head for easy removal and you may have to reapply as you work your way around your head. Take your paper towel and start rubbing in the direction the glue is going around your head, as your rubbing the lace adhesive will be forming a ball and when this happens then grab it with the paper towel and continue all the way around until the lace adhesive is completely removed.

  3. Step 3

After you have removed the glue grab a cotton ball and put some alcohol on it and rub around the perimeter of your head or just ear to ear if you only had on a lace front wig. By doing this you getting the area clean from any adhesive left and any stickyness that may be left.

  4. Step 4

Now take your Q-tip and dip it in the lace adhesive remover and rub it on the lace were any glue my be still on. Do this step in 1/2" to 1" sections at time. Take another cotton ball and wrap it in your nylon stocking ( you can cut a piece of nylon stocking big enough to wrap around your cotton ball twice. Now start wipeing the glue starting at the top where the glue is on down to the end of the lace. Do this until you have removed all the adhesive from this section. Once you have cleaned your first section move on to the section and apply adhesive and continue this step until all lace adhesive is removed from your lace wig. When all adhesive is removed take another Q-tip and dip it in some alcohol and rub it along the perimeter of the lace were the glue was to remove any excess oily residue. Also make sure your not rubbing to hard on your lace, you don't want to rip it.

  5. Step 5

Now your ready to wash your wig.

Tips & Warnings
  • I you find that your hands are getting sticky from the the lace adhesive while cleaning it, just take your paper towel and wipe or pick up any glue pieces from your fingers and continue working. Once your done, rub some of the adhesive remover in your hands and work between fingers and wipe with a paper towel and then wash your hands with warm soap and water.
