Adopting a Jack Russell Terrier is easy. This article will provide you with all the information you need to know about starting the adoption process.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First, it is important to do all research on Jack Russell Terrier's before you decide to adopt one.The Jack Russell is a breed that requires lots of special attention and care so do your homework before proceeding. They are very high-energy dogs and probably one of the neediest, but there are equally rewarding and appealing traits associated with owning this type of dog. Consider things like space in your home, your activity levels and wether you have small children before initiating the adoption process.

  2. Step 2

Now, you've researched and decided to proceed with adoption. Now what? Go to the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America website and look for a credible and reputable breeder in your area. Not all breeders are created equal and it's important that you purchase your Jack from someone with a great breeding history to avoid purchasing dogs that are not full breed or that may be passed off as being healthy when they are really sick.Once you arrive at the Jack Russell association website, you can conduct a search in your state and also bordering states to locate a Jack.

  3. Step 3

It is important to mention that Jack Russell's have escalated in price since popular celebrities like Mariah Carey and the Jack made popular by the hit sitcom, "Frasier" have emerged. Many years ago you could adopt a Jack for around $400 but now the price for these breeds can be upwards of $1300. Since these little dogs are quite expensive and a big investment, it is especially important that you research the breed first to decide if you truly want one. (and can handle one)

  4. Step 4

Jack Russell's are a joyous dog to own and they have a long life expectancy. (15 years) They are sure to be around to give you love and loyalty for many years to come. Remember that if you love them and treat them well, in return, they will treat you even better.
