How to Download the Best Property Management Software

Be sure to keep a backup of your software on disc in case of emergencies.

When looking at property management software, consider your familiarity with using the software along with its features. QuickBooks is a commonly used program by business owners, tax professionals and accountants, so it's universal. However, it has a higher learning curve and can be more expensive. Quicken is less costly and more user friendly but lacks some of the more advanced features and options of QuickBooks. The best program for you will depend on how much you're willing to spend, whether you're already familiar with using either of the programs and what advanced features you're looking for.

Instructions

Downloading QuickBooks

1. Click on the "Buy Now" button to purchase the software on the QuickBooks website. You can choose to purchase either the pro or the premier version, but premier is recommended for property management because it allows you access to industry-specific information that the pro version doesn't.

2. Select "Download" as the delivery method option in your shopping cart. You also can select "Both" if you'd like to get a CD in addition to the download. Click the "Checkout" button.

3. Enter your contact information along with your payment information and click to submit. Wait for your confirmation page.

4. Click on the "Download" link located on the "Thank You for Your Purchase" page. In the pop-up, click "Save," choose a location for the file to be stored on the "Save As" screen and click "Save" again. Wait for the file to finish downloading. Expect the download process to take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your Internet download speed.

5. Double-click the program icon from your saved location to install the program.

Downloading Quicken

1. Go to the "Quicken Rental Property Manager" page. Select "Download" as your delivery option and click on the "Add to Cart" button.

2. Review your order and click on the "Checkout" button.

3. Enter your contact and payment information and click to submit.

4. Click on the "Download" link located on your confirmation page, or in your confirmation email.

5. Click "Save" in the pop-up and choose a location for the file to be stored on the "Save As" screen. Click "Save" one more time to finish the process. Wait for the file to finish downloading.

6. Double-click on the program icon to fully install the program.
