Step 1
The first step is choosing the right KIND of foundation. There are lots and lots of different kinds of foundations out there: Everything from liquid foundation to powder foundation to cream foundation. Here's the easy way to tell which is right for you: If you have wrinkles, you will need a cream to powder or cream foundation. If you have oily skin, try an oil free liquid foundation. If you have dry skin, use a liquid foundation, and if you have normal skin that just needs a little help to even out tone, try a powder foundation.

Step 2
The next step in flawless foundation is choosing the best moisturizer for your skin. If you're the type of person that has oily skin, try an oil free moisturizer. There are also cream moisturizers, light moisturizers, etc. Choose whatever is best for you, but always remember to wear moisturizer under your foundation. Try some with some SPF in it too! This will help prevent wrinkling and premature aging.

Step 3
Ok, so know you know what kind of moisturizer and what kind of foundation to buy, but what color? Do not put foundation on your hand to test the color. The color on our hands is generally a few shades darker than that of our face. The best thing to do is to try one until you find one that is the right color. there are foundations out now that pick up the tones in your skin and can deliver very close matches to skin color. Otherwise, remember that a shade too light is better than a shade too dark. You can also balance out the effects of a too light foundation with a little darker powder.

Step 4
Apply liquid foundation with a make up sponge and use a clean one every time you apply makeup. Blend the foundation into your skin evenly. Don't rub too hard, or you'll rub the foundation off. Check your jaw line and anywhere the make up might clump together, like around the mouth, near our eyes or eyebrows, or on our nose. Once you have it all blended in (from your forehead, under your eyes, over your nose, over your cheeks and around your mouth) apply some light powder to matte the finish. Add some mascara and you're good to go!
