Whether they are green, red, or yellow, peppers hold up very well when frozen. Freezing is a wonderfully easy way to preserve peppers. Plus, it's easy to thaw them under some running water in seconds and throw them into an omelet or on top of a pizza. Here's how to freeze peppers.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A knife
  • Freezer bags
  1. Step 1

Wash all peppers that you plan to freeze thoroughly. Washing the vegetables helps to prevent any bacterial infections from food. This is one of the primary ways that food borne illness is prevented. Prevention is key!

  2. Step 2

Cut the peppers in your usual fashion using a sharp knife and a clean cutting board. Cut the peppers as normal by removing and discarding the inner pieces and saving the outer shell of the peppers. This is the portion that you'll chop up for freezing.

  3. Step 3

Place the chopped pieces of peppers into a freezer bag and place them in the freezer. Make sure to get as much air out of the bag as possible. They should be fully frozen in no more than 24 hours if your freezer is functioning properly.

  4. Step 4

Remove the frozen peppers from the freezer bags and use as needed. Peppers can be easily thawed by simply placing them in a strainer under running water.
