How to change the bitrate of Netflix Instant View movies

This article will teach you to change the bitrate of a Netflix InstantView movie after you're started watching it, so you can select your preferred video quality. This can be particularly useful if you have a slow connection, but want to override Netflix's automatic bitrate choice.

Things You'll Need:

• Netflix account
• Internet connected computer
• Working web browser

1. Direct your web browser to http://www.netflix.com

2. Log into your Netflix account using your username and password.

3. Click on the Watch Instantly tab.

4. Choose a movie you would like to watch and click the Play button next to the movie of your choice to begin playback.

5. Once the actual movie playback begins, press Shift-B on your keyboard.

6. Locate and click on the small drop down menu, on the bottom right hand corner of your browser, in order to display the list of bitrates available for the movie you selected.

7. Choose your desired bitrate using the bitrate drop down menu, and the movie should reload using your selection.

Tips & Warnings

• If nothing happens when you press Shift-B, you may need to first click on the black border around the movie, and then try Shift-B again.
