It will take practice and patience but here is the easy way to teach your little one how to tie their shoes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • child wearing sneakers with shoes laces in 2 different colors
  1. Step 1

Consider getting laces in two different colors because it may be easier to teach him by saying "the blue one" rather than "the right" or "the left". Tie alongside him if you're both right or left handed. If you're not, sit opposite each other so your motions will match his.

  2. Step 2

Have him cross the laces to create an "X." Slide one under the other and pull. Form loops but call them bunny ears with each lace.

  3. Step 3

Last, cross the ears and tuck one under the other but tell him the bunny is crawling through a hole then tighten. Always praise your child for a job well done even if they don't get it on the first try. Remember pratice makes perfect so you can practice these steps as many times as your child wishes!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can allow your child to pick the laces in their favorite color.
  • Have fun

on 9/24/2009 Having laces in two colors sounds like a great idea! I don't have kinds, but I'll pass it on to my friends who do :)
