How to Make Chocolate for Your Kids

I am still to meet a kid who does not love chocolate. It is the most popular flavor in the United States of America. We all buy endless bars and candies of chocolate from the super market. What if you could make it at home? So how can you make chocolate for your kids?

Making chocolate from cocoa powder is quite a simple task. It is good to make your own chocolate as you can decide how rich or dark you or the kids like it. You can even decide what nuts or other flavors should go into it, to make it your own personal batch of chocolates.

Things You'll Need

  • 4 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 6 tbsp. milk
  • Chopped nuts (optional)
  • Put the butter or margarine into a medium saucepan. Now slowly add the bitter cocoa powder to it. Add the milk and stir continuously to avoid lumps. Keep the flame at medium and let it come to a boil.

  • Remove saucepan from fire and add the powdered sugar. If you sift it first you will be able to avoid lumps. Mix till it blends smoothly. Now add the vanilla essence and the nuts you desire. Use this sinfully yummy chocolate with ice creams or pour it over brownies.

  • If you want your chocolate to be richer you can use a dark cocoa powder. You can vary this recipe to make chocolate fudge. Just add some more powdered sugar and make it thicker. Empty the contents of the saucepan into a casserole greased with butter.

  • Let it set for sometime and then you can cut fudge squares. You can store this for six months. Use an air tight container and refrigerate.
