Sometimes you download programs you wish you hadn't. What you've downloaded may even have a virus or spyware in it. If your computer is acting funny or if you're suspicious of a certain program that you feel the need to get rid of you need to read all of this and follow these directions.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer and good anti-virus software.
  1. Step 1

Click the Start menu at the lower left of the screen. Then click the control panel. Once you've done that click Add or Remove Programs. After the list has been populated, find the program you want to get rid of and uninstall it.

  2. Step 2

You're not done yet! You'll also need to the Start Menu again and click My Computer. Then go to Local Disk (C:) and click it(right click if necessary). You should see a lot of folders and programs.

  3. Step 3

Click(right click if necessary) Documents and Settings. I don't know how many folders you'll have there but search each one for the program you think you've deleted. If you see it there, delete it. Whether or not you've seen it, there's more to do.

  4. Step 4

Go back to Local Disk (C:) and all the programs you saw earlier. Now click(right click if necessary) Program Files. Do you see most of your programs there? More importantly, do you see the program you thought you had deleted earlier? If you do, go to it and delete it.

Tips & Warnings
  • AVG, Symantec and Superantispyware are good antispyware software.
  • Be careful not to delete important files you need to keep your computer running smoothly! Check the programs you want to delete before you delete them!
