Use a Dental Damn for Safe Oral/Anal Sex

Safe anal/oral sex can be achieved by the use of a dental dam. When in doubt, always err on the side of caution when participating in any type of sex. Engaging in oral/anal sex can spread sexually transmitted diseases and bacteria as easily as vaginal sex. Follow these steps to use a dental dam for safe oral/anal sex.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand the purpose of the dental dam. The dental dam is a thin piece of latex or silicone used to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

  2. Step 2

Buy or make your own dental dam. Dental dams can be found online but they tend to be pricey. To make a dental dam, cut a condom lengthwise and then proceed to shape it into a square with the scissors. If you choose to use a condom, be sure that it is not one that has spermicide or other chemicals as part of its make up.

  3. Step 3

Place the dental dam over the clitoris, labia, vagina or anus before applying your mouth to the area. The dental dam will provide a barrier between your mouth and nose and any bacteria or germs that are on the surface of the area you are performing oral sex on.

  4. Step 4

Use a new dental dam each time you change areas or partners. When it doubt, throw it away and break out a new one.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a more pleasant experience, you can buy flavored dental dams in lemon, vanilla, chocolate and other flavors.
  • Dental dams are not one hundred percent fail proof.
