Road Rage can happen on any day and on any road. Everyday, there are things that other drivers do that could make us upset, whether it is cutting us off, not using their blinker, tail-gaiting us, or anything else. We make the choice of how we are going to react in these situations. We can choose to act angry and upset or we can not let it affect our moods. This article will give steps on how to avoid road rage.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When another driver does something that annoys you, stay calm. Don’t make any hand gestures that could make the other driver upset. Be careful of what body language you use as well.

  2. Step 2

Take a few deep breaths. This will help to keep you calm, collective, and cool.

  3. Step 3

Refrain from cussing at the other driver. Other drivers can often read your mouth and your body language. Cuss words are usually easy to tell.

  4. Step 4

Turn the radio on or off, whatever makes you calmer, so you don’t dwell on what the other driver did that was 'annoying'. This can help you take your mind off of the other driver.

  5. Step 5

Make it a habit to ‘keep your calm’ when other drivers do something that could make you upset or angry. Try do not provoke other drivers as well by not doing anything yourself that could cause road rage.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t do anything that could escalate a situation that could turn into road rage
  • If confronted by an angry driver, keep your windows rolled up, lock your doors, and ignore him or her
  • Road Rage can cause injury, arrests, and even death if an accident is caused as a result.
