How to Set Up Skype on a Mac
Skype is a voice-over-Internet service that supports free calls from your computer to other Skype users anywhere in the world and offers low rates on calls made to mobile and landline phones. The free version of Skype for Macs supports one-to-one video calls, while the Skype Premium package supports group video callings and group screen sharing.

Navigate to the Skype website for Mac downloads and click "Download Skype."

Follow the onscreen prompts to create an account. You'll be asked for your name and email address, birthday, gender, country, city and preferred language. Enter your preferred Skype name and a password. Read the Skype Terms of Use and the Skype Privacy Statement and click "I agree -- continue."

The Skype file should download and appear in your Downloads window. Double-click on the Skype .dmg file to open a window with instructions to drag the Skype icon into the Application folder alias. Do so.

Agree to replace any older versions of Skype that may be on your computer. Locate the Skype application in the Applications folder. Open Skype and sign in with your user name and password.
