How to Crochet a Simple Hat

Everyday more and more people are learning how to crochet. Here is a pattern for a simple skullcap. It should only take an hour or two.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a size F crochet hook
  • a skien of SuperSaver Red Heart yarn
  1. Step 1

    Chain 4, join with a slip stitch, making a circle.

  2. Step 2

    Double Crochet(DC) in center of circle 8 times around. Make a slip stitch in the first stitch.

  3. Step 3

    Round 1: Chain 2, then (2 DC) in each DC around. Slip stitch in beginning stitch.

  4. Step 4

    Round 2: Chain 2, 2 DC in next DC, 1 DC in next DC. Do this all around. Slip Stitch in beginning stitch.

  5. Step 5

    Round 3: Chain 2, 2 DC in next DC, 1 DC in next 2 DC. Do this all around, and for every round after, adding a single DC in every increase (ex: Round 4, 3 DC, round 5, 4 DC, etc.) until you have 5 DC in between each increase.

  6. Step 6

    Round 6-12: DC in every DC around. Tie off and weave in ends.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can increase or decrease rounds to get the size you want.
