Things You'll Need:
- Professional manicure or pedicure
- polish
- gloves
- caution
-
Step 1
It’s a good idea to bring your own polish to the salon. Lighter colors will last longer since chips and grow outs don’t show as much. Clear nails with a traditional French tip work the best.
-
Step 2
If you have a cuticle issue and a short nail bed (the length of your nail from base to tip), trim them yourself at home. Be gentle, they’re there for a reason, to keep the germs out…maybe just push them back after a bath or shower.
-
Step 3
On pedicures, with grow outs, my little cheating tip to extend the life of the color is to brush an additional coat to at the base outwards. This usually works once, for an additional week to the life of your manicure/pedicure. It’ll start looking funky if you keep coloring only the grow outs. Think of it as coloring the roots…
-
Step 4
Use gloves to maintain your manicure when washing dishes (for us old fashion girls). If you’re like me, don’t pick at your nails. Be gentle with everyday use of your nails like popping open soda cans.
