How to make Date Syrup, or vegan honey. This dark syrup is a treat and a great replacement for maple syrup and honey. It's very easy to make and can also substitute sugar in cookies.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dates
  • water
  • alcohol free extract if desired
  1. Step 1

Place your dates in a pan and add water until the dates are covered. It's best to use a narrow pan for a thicker syrup. Try to use the softest dates you can get your hands on. It will break down a lot easier.

  2. Step 2

Once the water boils, let it boil for 5 minutes then put it on a the lowest heat, and simmer for 30-60 minutes depending on if your dates are very soft and fresh or a bit harder.

  3. Step 3

Let the mixture cool. Once cooled add the mixture to a blender and add any alcahol-free extracts you wish to add, you can also add a little cinnamon. Blend until the mixture is very smooth. If there are tiny pieces left, pass the mixture through a sift. Enjoy your date honey!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't add the mixture while it is hot to the blender, let it cool completely first.
