A computer virus is said to be a self replicating program that infects files. Computer virus can be transferred between computers through file exchange. Emails that you receive might contain viruses along with the original file from the known sender. The virus attaches itself to the file and the sender wouldn’t know about this.

Virus on a computer is able to perform various functions such as erase, change or harm files. Some may provide a lot of harm while others won’t. When a virus enters a computer it will hide itself and may or may not harm to your computer.

  1. Step 1

    First you should install the Anti-Virus Software. If you don’t have an anti-virus, you are exposing your computer to serious threats. You can find a number of free anti-virus programs that are of good quality.

  2. Step 2

    Updating of software is required and very important. You should not only install the software but update it as well as there are a number of new threats emerging every day. Updating will make sure that anti-virus is able to protect your computer from these threats.

  3. Step 3

    Never install software simply because you saw an advertisement and is free. If you haven’t heard of the software avoid installing it. Most of the time these are just spywares. Only prefer software which is trusted. Install only Trusted Software.

  4. Step 4

    It has come to notice to File Sharing through P2P. P2P is very dangerous and you could end up downloading virus along with movies, software or songs.

  5. Step 5

    Avoid clicking Ads especially ones that say you have won a prize.

  6. Step 6

    Regularly run a virus Scan and clean up your computer.

  7. Step 7

    Create secure passwords so that it cannot be easily broken and your important files are not accessed.
