Mac and cheese from a box is quick, easy, and cheap. But it’s not always delicious. Follow these tips to make your snack even better!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Boxed mac and cheese
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Salt and pepper
  1. Step 1

Keep the water at a rolling boil, especially when you add the pasta. It’s important that the pasta move around and not stick to the bottom. Stir occasionally.

  2. Step 2

Cook it more firmly than you think it should be done. Mushy noodles are gross!!

  3. Step 3

Drain well, rinse, and shake. This keeps the pasta from clumping or being starchy.

  4. Step 4

Add some butter to the pasta and let it melt. Use 1 tablespoon of butter or less. You don’t need as much as it says on the box!

  5. Step 5

Stir in the cheese mix. Mix well until it looks like it is ready to eat, that is, smooth with no clumps.

  6. Step 6

Add a splash of milk and stir well.

  7. Step 7

    Salt and pepper to taste!

  8. Step 8

Sometimes roasted red peppers are good in it if you are feeling fancy. Experiment with different things and see what you like best!
