Obtaining a copy of my W2 Form is easier than most people think. Obtaining a copy of my W2 Form should be as simple as requesting a copy of the W2 form in an email or in person from your employer. Most employees receive their W2 Forms from their employer during the early part of February.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Each tax year your employer should mail you copies of your Form W2 by the first part of February. Make sure your employer and former employers during the past year have your correct mailing address.

  2. Step 2

Employers should have a copy of W2 forms they sent their employees. Request a copy of your W2 Form from your employer if you do not receive it in the mail by the beginning of February or if you have lost your W2 form and need additional copies. Employers may also give you an acceptable substitute W-2 form.

  3. Step 3

Some employers may provide you with an electronic copy of your W2 form. This usually makes obtaining a copy of my W2 Form easy. If you have given your consent to receive your W-2 electronically your employer should let you know how to obtain a copy of your W-2 Form electronically either by email or logging in to a secure website.
