Step 1
Select a Color Scheme and Theme
There are many color schemes and themes to choose from; therefore, select the one that is reflective of your desires. -
Step 2
Evaluate Cribs
Make sure that the crib bars are close enough where your infant’s head cannot squeeze between them. Bars that are wide enough for a baby’s head to go through could cause strangulation. -
Step 3
Purchase Crib Accessories
A). Make sure the mattress is firm. A too soft mattress could cause your infant to sink into it. Consequently, part or your baby’s entire nostril could be covered resulting in suffocation.
B). Buy a padded crib bumper. A padded crib bumper will protect your baby from bumps and bruises if he or she bumps or bangs his/her head against the crib.
C). Buy a waterproof mattress cover and at least 7 sheets. Having at least 7 sheets will prevent you from having to wash frequently. -
Step 4
Assess Changing Tables
Buy a changing table with a storage area. The storage area will hold items, which include diapers and wipes. Make sure the height of the table is one which you would be comfortable in standing. Too low of a changing table could cause complications, such as back pain. -
Step 5
Buy Diaper Pail
Purchase one that helps to eliminate lingering odors. -
Step 6
Check Rocking Chairs
Check and make sure when sitting in the rocking chair that you are comfortable, preferably one with a cushion and pad. The more comfortable you are in the rocking chair, the more pleasant experience it will be for you and your baby.
