Balloon centerpiece: Buy several small mylar balloons on sticks and a pice of florists foam. You can either put these into a gift wrapped box, a vase, a too hat, a hat box...use your imagination!

Beach centerpiece: Fill a shallow plastic pan with sand. Cut a scrap of towel, lay it under a paper parasol. Check a party supply store for mini sunglasses and other accessories.

Flowers always make great centerpieces. Use big bright choices, like sunflowers or Gerber Daisies. if the birthday guest is a greenthumb, consider choosing a potted plant they can take home with them.

Candles add elegance and ambiance. Use one large three-wicked candle, or tie three pillar candles of varying sizes together with a broad ribbon. Or float candles in glass bowl with flower petals.
