Prepare for a Baby on a Budget

If you need to prepare for a baby on a budget, then you are one of many. There are heaps of cheap baby items out there if you know just where to look.

Instructions

Make room in your budget for a carseat monitor! All parents would love to believe they do not need one, but several dozen children die in hot cars every year because the parent or caretaker that was not used to taking the child somewhere simply forgot the child was in the car. Brand is not important, what is important is that you do whatever is necessary to get one of these products (one that makes NOISE) to protect your new infant.

Hit up yard sales. Babies grow out of their clothes and equipment rapidly and for families who aren't planning for more children, these items just get in the way. They are usually more than willing to sell them to you at a cheap price.

Check out Craigslist.com. Craigslist showcases sellers in your local area. This is normally where you will find bigger baby items such as cribs and carseats.

      You can pump breast milk.

Decide to breastfeed. This will save you an incredible amount of money. Even the cheapest formula on the market will cost you around $1300 for the first six months of a child's life.

Visit local thrift and consignment shops. These are other good places to find baby furniture and equipment.

    • 6

Make a list of the baby items you still need and do not yet have. Give your list to the friend or family member that is planning your baby shower. This way guests can be sure to get you the items that you need. People don't like to do guesswork, help them out!

Stop by your local Dollar Store to pick up items like bottles, teething rings, and wipes. Most every area has a store where all items are just $1 and these stores sell some of the exact same baby items that the grocery stores sell. Don't pay $4 for something you can buy for $1.
