How to Use The Book of Mormon in CTR

The Book of Mormon in CTR(Color Text Referencing) is a unique process of color coding the Book of Mormon. The process works by assigning colors to each person who speaks, every time a person speak his words are underlined with his colors and any word that refers to a person(example: him, her, thy, thou and so on) that word is colored in his color.

Things You'll Need:

  • Study time.
  • The Book of Mormon in CTR
  • Good lighting.
  • A quiet place.
  1. Step 1

    Get comfortable in a place with good lighting, open your Book of Mormon in CTR to a good place to read.

  2. Step 2

    The first thing you should take note of is the key at the bottom of each page. This identifies who each color belongs to.

  3. Step 3

    While reading notice the colors underlining the words keeping in mind who that color belongs to.

  4. Step 4

    After you get the underlining down, take note of the words that are colored keeping in mind who that color belongs to.

  5. Step 5

    Try to associate the colors for each person with that person while reading.

  6. Step 6

    As you spend more time reading this way it will become second nature, it gets much easier over time and fluid.

  7. Step 7

    Once you have these steps down try focusing more on the spiritual meaning of each verses instead of trying to understand who is talking.

Tips & Warnings
  • This really helps visual learners. If you find yourself rereading verses after verses and have a hard time following a long you maybe a visual learner who can really use the colors found in The Book of Mormon in CTR as a guide.
  • The goal here is to getting the most out of the scriptures spiritually by allowing your mind to focus more on spiritual things and not figuring out who is talking.
