Make Your Own Protein Shakes

In order to maintain a healthy body, protein must be an integral part of your diet. Since protein contains amino acids, which provide your body with energy and develop healthy muscles and bones, protein shakes are often used as a supplement to easily include more protein into the diet. The recipe below is for a chocolate/peanut-butter protein shake that will increase your energy and provide a day's worth of protein for your diet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 ounces water
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp. natural peanut butter
  • 2 scoops chocolate protein powder
  1. Step 1

Add approximately 12 ounces of water to your blender along with four ice cubes and heavy whipping cream.

  2. Step 2

Add two scoops of chocolate protein powder (any brand). Most scoops of protein powder contain about 17.5 grams of protein. Use the scoop that came with your jar of protein powder as your measuring tool.

  3. Step 3

Blend the contents of your blender on a medium setting with the lid on for about 20 seconds and turn it off again.

  4. Step 4

Add one tablespoon of natural peanut butter to the mix and blend again with the lid on for 20 more seconds. Peanut butter is known to reduce hunger and food cravings, so it's an excellent ingredient to include in your protein shake.

  5. Step 5

If you would like to add a serving fruit to your protein shake to give it a little more flavor, place a chopped banana into the mix and blend for 10 more seconds.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you wish to add sweeteners to your protein shake, you can use any artificial sweetener, such as Splenda. You can use this simple recipe for many different shakes, modifying it by using different flavors of protein powders and different kinds of fruit.
