In the U.K. term life Insurance is more popular than it is in the US. It is simply a policy that is specified for a certain period of years. If the person dies during that time the policy will pay out a predetermined sum. This usually makes it much cheaper than whole life insurance. But if you want to save even more money there are a few ways to buy term life insurance in the U.K.

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer with Internet access
  1. Step 1

Do some research. Researching the market can help you save money and insure that you have the proper coverage. Premiums of your life insurance policy are going to be determined by age. This means that the age you are is going to determine the amount of your premium. Your lifestyle and health are also going to be considerations. If you are a smoker or already have health issues some companies will raise the rates because you are a higher risk.

  2. Step 2

CompareTheMarket.com is a comparison engine that you can use to assess different plans. It will compare the main providers and look at a number of different life insurance products including, whole, term, mortgage protection and disability. They also do comparisons on car, home, business, bike and health insurance, as well as savings accounts and broadband digital services.

  3. Step 3

Use MoneySuperMarket.com. This is another comparison service that covers financial services, insurance, travel services, gas, electricity, mobile phones and shopping. You can call them at 0845 345 3284 and have one of their insurance advisers walk you through the various plans. They compare 24 of the biggest insurance companies in the U.K. for their quotes, including Prudential, Tesco, Bupa and AXA.

  4. Step 4

Use Confused.com. This was one of the first insurance comparison engines online and has been doing car insurance since 2002. In 2005 they began offering home, and life insurance. In addition they now have small business, pet, motorbike, and medical insurance, as well as utilities, financial services, and travel services.

  5. Step 5

Use GoDirect.co.uk. This engine has several different options available besides term life, including critical illness, mortgage insurance, and family income. They claim that you can save up to 28% on your life insurance premiums by using their services.

  6. Step 6

Use them all and pick the best. The nice thing about these comparison engines is that they are free to use as they are paid for by the insurance companies. So you can use them all and pick the quote that best fits your budget and needs.
