How to Make Homemade Deer Feeders
If you live next to a wooded area that is occupied by deer, you may want to consider making a deer feeder. Deer will quickly learn to go to your deer feeder multiple times per day to get food. This can be a nice sight for you if you put the feeder in an area visible from your home. Providing food for the deer also assists a great deal in helping them survive. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 5 gallon bucket
- Saw
- PVC pipe, 5 feet long, 3 inches in diameter
- Small chunk of wood
- Drill
- Screws
- Rope

Cut the bucket with a saw so it stands about 6 inches high. You need only the bottom part of the bucket.

Stick the PVC pipe inside the bucket along the edge. Prop the pipe up so that it sits about 1 inch above the bottom of the bucket. Try setting it on a small chunk of wood.

Screw the pipe and bucket together. The easiest way is to screw from the outside of the bucket and into the pipe. Three 1 inch screws are enough to hold the pipe and bucket together. Remove the chunk of wood from underneath the pipe.

Find a tree to which to secure the deer feeder. Take the rope and wrap it around the pipe and tree. Tie the rope in a tight knot. Do the same with a second piece of rope for extra security.

Pour deer feed into the top of the pipe. The gap between the bottom of the pipe and the bucket will allow the deer feed to flow into the bucket. It will automatically stop flowing in once it reaches the pipe. As soon as the feed level drops below the pipe, more food will come out.
