Things You'll Need:
- Crescent wrench
- Anti-corrosion battery gel (any brand)
- Electrical tape
-
Step 1
Locate and open the battery hatch cover. On most golf carts, the batteries will be located under the front hood; on some they are located under the seat.
-
Step 2
Using a crescent wrench, loosen and remove the negative cable from the battery on the driver's side that is directly connected to the battery charger.
-
Step 3
Bend the battery cable away from the battery post and wrap electrical tape around it so that even if the cable is moved, it cannot make contact with the post again.
-
Step 4
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the first battery that joins it to the next battery. Bend the cable and tape it as well. Disconnect all the negative cables from all of the batteries first, and then disconnect the positive cables.
-
Step 5
Paint each battery post and the battery cable ends with a thick coating of anti-corrosion gel. Don't worry about putting too much on, you can wipe off the excess come the new season. You want to make sure that no corrosion can get to the batteries or cables while they are stored.
