Draft a resume, which is your employer's first impression of you. When constructing your resume, think of how you want to be remembered. It shouldn't be more than one page in length. Plus, if it's really long, the employer might just skim through it and miss important highlights and toss it to the side. The purpose of the resume is to land you the interview, so your resume should be designed to make the employer want to know more. Depending on how your resume is built, it could be your best friend or your worst nightmare, causing you to miss out on desirable job opportunities.

Search for golf course jobs online. Visit EuroGolfJobs to search for available jobs (see Resources). Jobs are listed in the following categories: Greenkeeping, Golf Professional, Golf Club Jobs and Sales and Marketing. Decide which category interests you, and select your country and qualifications. You can also do a search by keyword. Review the descriptions of available jobs and the qualifications for each. Make a list of the jobs that appeal to you and for which you meet the requirements. This site also has a resume builder to guide you if you don't already have one.

When you have a list of jobs you like, submit your resume and apply. Be sure to include a unique cover letter for each job. You don't want it to look like you just copied and pasted it from one application to the next because that doesn't display your genuine interest in the job. Most people spend so much time perfecting their resume that they don't take time to create a dynamic cover letter to complement it. A cover letter should be short and to the point and explain your reason for applying. If you don't immediately find jobs that you want to apply for, you can also post your resume to the site so that it will show up when employers do a search.

Locate local golf courses. You might already know of some golf courses you want to apply to. By visiting Golf Europe, you can find other courses in your area (see Resources). You should visit each of these clubs dressed to impress, with a resume in hand. If they don't have any openings, leave your resume and thank them for their time.

Make follow-up calls. You should make calls to anywhere you turned in your application or left a resume to let them know you're still interested. These follow-up calls go a long way to show employers how dedicated you are and how badly you want the job.
